Greetings traveler,

My name is JD Scott. My friends call me "Turtle". First and foremost, I’m a geek. Always have been. I’m a graphic artist and sign man by trade. I made props and gaming supplies for myself (and my friends) as a hobby. Pretty soon, those friends were coming by & saying that a friend of theirs wanted to know if I could make this or that. I began to get more and more commissions, and one day decided it was time to finally make this hobby official… Thus Studio TurtlewurX was born.

I'm co-owner/operator of Highlander Signs. We do signs, graphic design, & custom motorcycle graphics. I've spent half my life as a vinyl slinger (read as ‘Sign guy’). If I’m not in the shop, I’m in the art studio. If I’m not at either of those places, it’s a fair bet I’m at a Con, selling geeky stuff to my fellow nerds. If all else fails, you can probably catch me at an SCA event.

I specialize in the reconstruction of medieval artifacts -mostly weapons-, though I’ve worked all over the spectrum... From digital art to hammering metal. I’ve had some of my work displayed at both the Longview Historical Museum & the Tyler Library.......... I’ve been in the art industry, in one form or another, nearly my entire life... Mostly I’ve gravitated towards advertising since it’s the most stable way to earn a paycheck & still get to be kind of artsy. I’ve written & edited radio ads, done graphic design, logo design, vehicle graphics, played at some photography, had some of my poetry & short stories published in small press, & I’ve made more signs and banners than I care to think about..........

I love to try my hand at any art form I come across. Not that I’m very good at ‘em all, but I still like to give it a shot. My only real regret is that I’d LOVE to sing or play an instrument, but I can’t even carry a tune in a bucket...........

I’m a nearly 30 year veteran of the Society for Creative Anachronism, and sometimes dabble with other historical reenactment or stick fighting groups.

I'm President and Chief of Clan MacRaith which is (again among other things) a Motorcycle Association. (We're also a western martial arts war band, a paintball team, and historical reenactors to name but a few of the things MacRaith does.)

I am also a member of the Mandalorian Mercs, a Star Wars charity costuming group, where I have held several offices at both local and international levels.

….And that is pretty much me in a nutshell. Welcome to TurtlewurX.com

Dia ár gcumhdach,

JD “The Turtle” Scott
